  1. Kylie Jenner - ‘Rise and Shine’

In what is likely the most bizarre of this year’s trademark battles, reality TV star and Forbes’ youngest ever self-made billionaire, Kylie Jenner allegedly threatened a small business over the use of the words ‘Rise and Shine’ on its products.

The popularly known saying ‘Rise and Shine’ was trademarked by Kylie Jenner when a video of her singing to her child went viral this year. An Australian company called CASED Clothing, which had been selling t-shirts with the aforementioned saying on them, was later reported to have received letters from Jenner’s lawyers requesting it stop selling the t-shirts with ‘Rise and Shine’ printed on them.

In response to the reports, Jenner tweeted: "There are no lawsuits, no cease and desist letters. Happy Sunday." She continued in several tweets: "Guys, please don't believe everything you read. I have not sent any Rise and Shine cease and desist letters."

She explained: "Rise and Shine was an unexpected moment... I had a lot of fun with it, and I have laughed so hard seeing everyone's memes since the video came out a few weeks ago."

To date, the alleged reports turned out to be fake news, and there was no lawsuit after all, though if there was, we would have had a very interesting feud to follow. On the other hand, the trademarking of ‘Rise and Shine’ was very real and once again, particularly on a celebrity scale, we will be seeing more of this in 2020.
