Kitch was founded in 2019 and has developed a digital platform enabling restaurants and shops to combine each of their delivery company apps, such as Glovo, UberEats and Just Eat, into a single app to streamline ordering and delivery logistics. Kitch now sells its technology to restaurants in multiple countries, boosting their digitalisation. It will continue to operate independently following the merger. Glovo has stated that the deal will enable them to export Kitch’s technology to the 25 countries in which Glovo operates, with the first expansions to be rolled out in Georgia and Italy.
The sale of Kitch to Glovo marks an important milestone for the company and the Portuguese tech ecosystem in 2022. As Portuguese law advisers to the seller, Gama Glória focused on ensuring that the founder team was well rewarded for bringing innovation to the restaurant IT infrastructure. As one of the successful exits in the Portuguese market in 2022 so far, Gama Glória expressed hope that the deal would bring visibility to the extraordinary transformation of Portugal into an entrepreneurial hub. André Júdice Glória led the Gama Glória team together with Inês Almendra and continues to be at the forefront of early-stage funding and exits in this market.
Hogan Lovells’ Madrid-based M&A practice also advised the seller. Uría Menéndez advised Glovo in Lisbon and Barcelona.
