Charlie Rose Settles Sexual Harassment Lawsuit with Three Former Employees.

Charlie Rose, 82, the former CBS This Morning anchor, has reached a settlement in the sexual harassment lawsuit filed by three former employees. The lawsuit, which came to light in 2018, accused Rose of creating a hostile work environment through unwanted touching, verbal harassment, and inappropriate behavior.

On Sunday, November 24, former staff members of Rose - Katherine Brooks Harris, Sydney McNeal, and Yuqing "Chelsea" Wei—submitted a stipulation to discontinue the lawsuit they initiated six years ago, as per court documents. A judge approved their request the following day, stating that “the motions are resolved, and the action is disposed.” The women had filed a lawsuit against CBS News and Rose in 2018, alleging that he subjected them to “repeated, ongoing and unlawful physical and verbal sexual harassment,” which included inappropriate touching, sexual remarks, and advances. CBS reached a settlement in that same year, but the women continued to pursue their case against Rose, who is now 82, despite his efforts to have it dismissed in August 2018.

Rose’s termination came after an internal CBS investigation, which concluded that his actions violated company policies. The allegations also resulted in him losing his role as a host at PBS, where he was also a prominent figure. This settlement follows months of legal proceedings and public scrutiny.

The exact details of the settlement were not made public, and no formal admission of wrongdoing was issued by Rose. However, both Rose and the women involved agreed to privately resolve the legal dispute, bringing closure to the case.

This settlement is part of the broader cultural shift sparked by the #MeToo movement, which has brought attention to sexual harassment, especially in the media and entertainment industries. Rose’s case was among many that highlighted the need for accountability and changes in workplace behavior.

Charlie Rose is a former prominent American television personality and journalist, best known for his role as co-anchor of CBS This Morning from 2012 until his dismissal in 2017. Prior to that, he hosted the Charlie Rose talk show on PBS, where he conducted in-depth interviews with influential figures, including politicians, authors, and cultural icons.

Mr. Rose was widely regarded for his thoughtful, conversational interview style and had established himself as a respected figure in broadcast journalism. However, his career came to a sudden halt when allegations of sexual harassment surfaced in 2017, leading to his termination from CBS and the end of his decades-long television career. Despite the controversy, Rose is currently hosting an interview show on YouTube while largely staying out of the public eye in recent years.
