Grace Jabbari Drops Assault and Defamation Lawsuit Against Marvel actor Jonathan Majors.
Jonathan Majors, 35, the actor known for his role in Creed III and as the villain Kang in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, has recently faced legal challenges. Court documents revealed on Thursday that his former partner, Grace Jabbari, 31, has withdrawn her lawsuit accusing him of assault and defamation. This development follows Majors' December 2023 conviction on two counts of misdemeanor assault against Jabbari. He was sentenced to a year of counseling but avoided jail time, maintaining his innocence.
Jabbari, a British dancer, initially filed a civil lawsuit in March 2024, claiming malicious prosecution, assault, battery, and defamation. She accused Majors of tarnishing her reputation by labeling her a liar and denying the abuse. The lawsuit also referenced Majors' continued assertions of innocence after the criminal trial.
However, Thursday’s brief stated that all claims against Majors were dismissed "with prejudice," meaning they cannot be refiled. Both parties will bear their own legal costs.
This legal battle marked a significant chapter in Majors' career, as Marvel Studios severed ties with him following his conviction, impacting his future in the Avengers franchise, where he was slated to reprise his role as Kang the Conqueror in Avengers: The Kang Dynasty.
Majors' attorney, Priya Chaudhry, had previously indicated the possibility of counterclaims. Jabbari's representatives and Majors’ legal team have not provided immediate comments on the recent developments. Despite his legal troubles, Majors was honored with the Perseverance Award at the 2024 Impact Awards in Hollywood. "I’m imperfect. I have shortcomings — I acknowledge them."
