KP Law Leads Fight for Justice and Compensation in UK Johnson & Johnson Talc Cancer Cases.
Johnson & Johnson is now facing the possibility of legal action in the UK after accusations that its talcum powder products may have caused cancer. Thousands of women in the UK are preparing to sue Johnson & Johnson over alleged cancer risks linked to its baby powder.
The UK claim is similar to those in the US, alleging that Johnson & Johnson’s talcum powder products, along with those from other companies, caused thousands of British consumers to develop ovarian cancer and mesothelioma due to suspected asbestos contamination in the talc.
This potential case marks a significant development, as it would be the first legal action of its kind in the UK. KP Law has already been approached by 4,000 potential claimants and currently represents around 2,000 individuals who developed cancer after using J&J’s talcum powder products.
Many of these claimants are women, but men who have been diagnosed with mesothelioma and peritoneal cancer may also have valid claims.
Tom Longstaff, a partner at KP Law, expressed that many individuals who used the talcum powder products were diagnosed with devastating cancers, some of which led to their deaths, leaving families in grief. He said, "All of these innocent individuals deserve justice."
Oregon Jury Awards $260 Million in Case Against Johnson & Johnson
While Johnson & Johnson has denied that its talcum powder products contain asbestos or pose a cancer risk, the issue has gained significant attention in the US, where ongoing litigation has drawn national focus.
The company has consistently defended its products, claiming that independent research shows no link between talc and ovarian cancer or mesothelioma.
Erik Haas, the global vice-president of litigation at J&J, reiterated these claims, stating that talc is not linked to ovarian cancer or mesothelioma. However, following the 2023 split of J&J’s consumer health division, Kenvue now holds responsibility for any talc-related liabilities outside of the US or Canada.
Despite the company’s defense, the International Agency for Research on Cancer has categorized talcum powder as "probably carcinogenic," with studies suggesting that talcum powder containing asbestos could lead to ovarian cancer, mesothelioma, and peritoneal cancer.
Research also revealed that J&J’s talcum powder contained traces of asbestos, despite the company being aware of these risks since the 1970s.
For individuals affected by the J&J talc scandal, there is hope for justice. If you or a loved one has been impacted by cancer after using Johnson & Johnson’s talcum powder, you may be entitled to compensation. For more information on how to file a claim, visit KP Law.
