Jeff Bezos Denies Reports That He and Lauren Sánchez Are Set to Wed This Christmas.
Jeff Bezos is clarifying the situation.
The Amazon founder, who is 60 years old, has dismissed rumors about an extravagant wedding with Lauren Sánchez around Christmas time in a social media update posted on Sunday, December 22. In response to a post on X (formerly Twitter) that referenced a recent article from The New York Post, which cited a report from The Daily Mail, it was claimed that he and his fiancée, aged 55, were planning a $600 million wedding in Aspen, Colorado, on Saturday, December 28.
Bill Ackman, CEO of Pershing Square, shared the Post article with the remark, "This is not credible. Unless you are buying each of your guests a house, you can’t spend this much money."
Bezos replied, "Moreover, this entire story is completely false — none of this is happening." He added, "The old saying ‘don’t believe everything you read’ is more relevant today than ever." Bezos further stated, "Now lies can travel all the way around the world before the truth can even get dressed.
So be cautious out there and don’t be naive." He also called out the media outlets that reported the false information about his wedding, saying, "It will be interesting to see if all the outlets that ‘covered’ and re-reported on this issue will issue a correction when it comes and goes without happening." Bezos has four children — three sons and a daughter — with his ex-wife MacKenzie Scott, while Sánchez has a son, Nikko, with ex Tony Gonzalez and two children, Evan and Ella, with ex-husband Patrick Whitesell.
