1 Killed, 8 Injured in Amarillo Nightclub Shooting.
A shooting outside a nightclub in Amarillo, Texas, left one person dead and eight others injured after a gunman opened fire into a crowd early on January 26, 2025. Police have arrested three individuals in connection with the incident.
At around 2:05 a.m., a vehicle approached the nightclub, and the shooter, later identified as 23-year-old Robert Kenney Knox, exited the car and began firing a rifle into a group of people standing near the club's entrance. According to the Amarillo Police Department (APD), the shooting was connected to a prior altercation inside the venue.
"Evidence indicates this incident stems from an earlier altercation inside the bar," the APD said in a statement. "The suspects left the bar but returned in the vehicle."
After firing several shots, Knox and the other occupants of the vehicle, including 21-year-old Nahryah Hilesta Ines Hayes, the alleged driver, fled the scene. One eyewitness managed to follow the vehicle and inform authorities of its location. "Thanks to the bravery and persistence of the witness, Randall County Sheriff’s deputies were able to locate and stop the vehicle," the statement read.

Knox and Hayes were arrested and charged with murder and eight counts of deadly conduct/discharge of a firearm. Britt Brinson Cave, 22, a passenger in the vehicle, was arrested on a charge of public intoxication.
Authorities recovered a firearm, shell casings, and other evidence at the scene, which they believe is connected to the shooting. "Detectives have a considerable amount of investigation to complete before we are able to understand completely what happened," the APD added.
