Allison Holker revealed that she discovered her late husband, Stephen "tWitch" Boss' hidden struggles with drug addiction just days after his tragic passing. While organizing his belongings for the funeral, Holker stumbled upon drugs, including mushrooms and pills, in Boss' closet, leading to a deeper understanding of the pain he had concealed. This revelation, combined with the journals he left behind, has helped Holker find closure and gain empathy for the challenges Boss faced in his life.

In her memoir, This Far, Holker expressed that reading through Boss’ journals offered her deeper insight into the pain he had silently carried. "He was wrestling with a lot inside himself," she shared. "He was trying to self-medicate and cope with all those feelings because he didn’t want to put it on anyone because he loved everyone so much."

Through his journal entries, Holker discovered that Boss had hinted at experiences of sexual abuse during his childhood. "It made me feel a great deal of empathy for him and sorrow for the pain he carried," she said. Holker also learned of his hidden struggle with drug addiction when she found substances hidden away while organizing his funeral. “It was a really intense moment for me because I uncovered many things in our closet that I had no idea were there.”

Holker reflected on how the revelations gave her a greater understanding of her husband's life. “There was so much going on that I was completely unaware of,” she admitted. Despite the shock, the discoveries have helped Holker process her grief and gain clarity on the struggles Boss faced behind the scenes.

Boss, known for his role as the regular DJ on The Ellen DeGeneres Show and his appearance on So You Think You Can Dance, passed away by suicide at age 40. Holker, who shares three children with him—Maddox, 8, Weslie, 16, and Zaia, 5—honored his legacy and the joy he spread to others, stating, “Stephen brought joy to every space he entered. He was the foundation of our family, the most wonderful husband and father.”

In her upcoming memoir, Holker opens up about their nine-year marriage and her ongoing journey toward healing. She also hopes her story encourages others facing similar struggles to seek support. "I truly hope that those facing similar struggles can find a way to step out of the shadows and understand that they will be okay,” she said.
