Disney+ Appoints Former Netflix Lawyer as EMEA Legal VP.
Streaming service Disney+ has appointed Deepti Burton as vice president for legal and business affairs for its EMEA (Europe, Middle East, and Africa) region, as reported by Broadcast Now.
Burton joins Disney from Netflix, where she most recently held the role of head of business and legal affairs for the UK and European studios film team, before leaving the company last year. At Disney, Burton will report to Diego Londono, executive vice president for media networks and content for EMEA, and Nikki Keat, chief regional counsel for EMEA.
Disney+ is the video-on-demand platform of the Walt Disney Company. Londono commented, "Deepti brings great energy and experience from UK and European productions in business and legal affairs, working closely with storytellers across EMEA."
Burton spent six years at Netflix in various roles in London and Amsterdam before her departure in April 2024. Prior to her time at Netflix, she spent over 13 years at Wiggin, serving as legal director for film and TV. She also worked at Hammonds (now Squire Patton Boggs) for three years.
Expressing her excitement about the role, Burton said, "There are very few brands that inspire throughout a lifetime – I’ve grown up with the incredible characters, storytelling and worlds Disney is uniquely able to create, and now get to see my kids embrace the magic. I am delighted to be joining Diego and Nikki’s teams to continue to tell great local stories to customers around the world."
