Janelle and Meri Brown Discuss Lawyers Over Coyote Pass.

In a recent Sister Wives clip, Janelle and Meri Brown revealed that they are considering hiring lawyers to help them navigate the ongoing drama surrounding their Coyote Pass property, which they share with Kody Brown and his wife, Robyn Brown. This discussion took place during a video call shared with Extra on Friday, January 24, where the two women expressed their concerns about the future of the land.

Janelle and Meri Brown discussed the possibility of hiring lawyers to navigate the ongoing drama surrounding their shared Coyote Pass property with Kody and Robyn Brown. The legal action follows months of uncertainty regarding the future of the Arizona land, with both expressing frustration over Kody’s lack of commitment to resolving the issue. As a result, they are now considering legal counsel to protect their interests.

Kody’s ex-wife Christine Brown sold her portion of the property to Kody and Robyn in 2022 for just $10, following her departure from the family in November 2021. While Kody and Robyn were keen to sell the property, Meri and Janelle were uncertain whether that was the best course of action.

“I don’t think you get to decide what we do with it,” Meri firmly stated during the video call with Janelle. “Sorry, you are not the head of my family.”

In a confessional, Meri continued, “I feel like Kody and Robyn probably have some plan of what they want to do and how they want to handle it. I think that Janelle has some sort of plan, and I know that I do as well. And none of us are talking to each other because none of us trust each other.”

Janelle, who announced her separation from Kody in December 2022, expressed her growing frustration with the situation. She revealed her intention to take the matter more seriously, stating, “I think it is time for somebody to be pushing my interests. I probably will get a lawyer. In fact, I’ve been talking to one. I hope you feel like that for you too.”

Meri, who officially split from Kody in January 2023, was in agreement. “I do because it has been a year and half since I’ve had that conversation with Kody,” she responded.

Meri also shared her feelings in a confessional, admitting that there had been “a lot of confusion” in how things had been handled within the family. She explained, “I think that’s why I am going to get a lawyer to help me through this process. I feel like for quite a few years I’ve sat back and just not wanted to ruffle feathers so I haven’t pushed the issue on many things, but I will push the issue now.”

Janelle had previously discussed the issue with Christine Brown during the Sunday, January 19, episode of Sister Wives, revealing that she had already hired a lawyer. “So I was going to tell you, yeah, I actually hired a lawyer. I’ve found one and I put the retainer down, and basically I’m just going to be going for separation of assets. You know what I mean? Like that’s really all I can go for,” she said.

Janelle continued, “Nothing’s happening. I’ve asked Kody, like, what about selling it? What about all these things? He’s like, ‘Well, I don’t know. I don’t know. Maybe you should talk to Meri.’ Like he’s always putting me off.”

In a confessional, Janelle expressed her frustration with Kody’s lack of action: “I’m like, dude, let’s just get it sold, let’s get it divided — however we’re going to do this. But it’s just crickets. It’s just whatever.”

The Coyote Pass property was purchased in 2018 by Kody, Janelle, Christine, Meri, and Robyn for $820,000. In the January 19 episode, Janelle clarified that the property had been fully paid off. She also provided a breakdown of their ownership, stating, “So we own, in total, about 14 acres out at Coyote Pass. The way it’s titled — if we were to sell it right now — Meri would get compensated for like, an acre and a half of the whole 14.”

However, Janelle stressed that the decision to sell still “hinges on Kody” since he is the one listed on all of the property titles. “He’s the one that has to make changes in ownership. Are you going to show up and divide these fairly? What are we doing? Because he’s very wishy washy,” she said. “He says something, then you don’t hear from him forever. I don’t know… there’s no reassurance that he’s going to be kind.”

As tensions continue to rise within the family over the future of Coyote Pass, it remains to be seen how the property will ultimately be divided, and whether Janelle and Meri will move forward with their plans to hire legal representation.
