Kody Brown from Sister Wives expresses his desire to relocate to Europe in order to avoid the ongoing drama with his family.
Kody Brown, star of Sister Wives, is eager for a new beginning in a distant place. “I really feel the urge to move, just to escape the overwhelming energy around me,” the 55-year-old reality star shared during a confessional in the Sunday, January 5, episode of his family's TLC show.
“I need to leave this behind because it’s not working for me; the memories and the energy are just too much.” He already has a destination in mind, saying, “Here’s the crazy part. I have kids in college and kids in elementary school, but I want to relocate to Europe.” The head of the Brown family expressed his desire to distance himself from the current situation, stating, “I want to get away from this place where I won’t have to see it or be overwhelmed by it anymore,” likely referencing the ongoing drama with his wife Robyn Brown and his separations from ex-wives Meri, Janelle, and Christine. Christine, 52, was the first of Kody’s wives to end their relationship, announcing her decision in November 2021.
“After more than 25 years together, Kody and I have grown apart, and I’ve made the tough choice to leave,” she posted on Instagram at that time. “We will continue to be a strong presence in each other’s lives as we co-parent our beautiful children and support our wonderful family. We kindly ask for your understanding as we navigate this new chapter.” A little over a year later, a source revealed that Janelle, 55, had also chosen to separate from Kody. “Janelle is a strong, independent woman who realized she can thrive on her own,” the insider shared in December 2022, adding that she had “outgrown” her marriage to him.
Kody and Meri, both 53, announced their separation in January 2023. Their joint statement began, “In response to a recent unauthorized press release, we feel it’s important to share our truth in our own way and at our own pace. After over ten years of trying to make our relationship work in our own special ways, we have decided to end our marriage permanently.”
They emphasized their commitment to treating each other and their family members with kindness and respect. Kody and Meri added, “We are also dedicated to healing all relationships within the family so we can move forward with forgiveness, grace, and love.”

With the breakups, Robyn, 46, remains Kody’s only wife, which has created challenges in their marriage as she struggles to accept the end of their plural family. While Robyn is still hopeful about polygamy and the possibility of expanding their family, Kody has expressed that he is now committed to monogamy. During a tense moment in Sunday’s episode, he asked Robyn, “Will you accept me as a monogamist? Is that a problem?” Feeling emotional, Robyn shared that she would “always stick” by her husband, but she is experiencing an “identity crisis” due to the changes in their marriage. “Yes, I’ll always stand by him and I love him,” she said. “This isn’t the life I envisioned for myself.”
