Meghan Markle has delayed the premiere of her Netflix series With Love, Meghan due to the ongoing wildfires in Los Angeles. Originally set for January 15, the new premiere date is now March 4. Meghan, with full support from Netflix, made this decision to focus on supporting those affected by the devastating wildfires in her home state of California.
“I’m thankful to my partners at Netflix for supporting me in delaying the launch, as we focus on the needs of those impacted by the wildfires in my home state of California,” Meghan shared in a statement on January 12.
The Duchess of Sussex has strong ties to California, where she was born and raised. She and her family, including husband Prince Harry and their two children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, currently reside in Montecito. With Love, Meghan features personal references to her home state, highlighting the close connection she has to Southern California.
In the wake of the wildfires, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have been actively supporting the community. On January 10, they visited the World Central Kitchen in Pasadena, where they helped distribute food and supplies to wildfire victims. They also worked with first responders, including L.A. County firefighters and police, to show their gratitude for their efforts.
In a statement on their official website, Harry and Meghan said, “In the last few days, wildfires in Southern California have raged through neighborhoods and devastated families, homes, schools, medical care centers, and so much more – affecting tens of thousands from all walks of life.” They urged the public to donate essential items to assist those affected by the wildfires and included links to organizations like The American Red Cross.
Meghan’s Netflix series, described as an uplifting lifestyle show, features her engaging in everyday activities such as cooking, flower arranging, and caring for a beehive. Netflix described the show as a unique blend of practical tips and open conversations, designed to “elevate ordinary moments into something special.”
Despite the setbacks from the fires, Meghan remains committed to supporting her community and helping those in need through the Archewell Foundation.
