Poppy Delevingne Shares Her Excitement About Expecting Her First Child.
Model and fashion icon Poppy Delevingne has just revealed the exciting news that she’s expecting her first child with her partner, Archie Keswick. The couple, who have been together for some time, are thrilled to be welcoming their first little one, and Poppy confirmed on Friday, January 17, that they’re having a girl.
“She really is all I’ve ever wanted,” Poppy, 38, shared with Elle UK, expressing her excitement about the arrival of their daughter. She added, “Obviously, I would have been fine with either [a boy or a girl] and when I was younger I always thought when I get pregnant, I wouldn’t find out, but the second we got told we could find out, we did. I’m so excited. I come from all girls, we’re very girl heavy. Girls are great.”
For Poppy, the news was especially thrilling, as she comes from a family of strong, independent women, including her famous sisters, model/actress Cara Delevingne and socialite Chloe Delevingne. The Delevingne sisters are known for their close bond, and it’s clear that their excitement about the baby is overflowing. Poppy shared how the big reveal happened, remembering the moment she found out during London Fashion Week in the fall of 2024.
“I was being fitted for Burberry’s SS25 show, and I noticed that my clothes felt a bit tighter. Plus, two weeks earlier, I had a feeling something was different, so I took a test as soon as the show was over,” she explained. The holidays were spent in New York with her sisters, where Poppy could hardly contain her joy. “We were all in New York, with each other and with the bump, and there was a lot of talking to the bump, stroking the bump. They’re just elated,” she fondly recalled.
Although Poppy and Archie were absolutely thrilled, they decided to keep the pregnancy news private for the first few weeks. “I always imagined that if this moment had ever happened to me I would have told people,” she admitted. “But it was quite extraordinary, I became very tight-lipped about it. I think I just wanted to protect it more than anything.”
She continued, “I think I was really nervous, as well. It just feels like such an extraordinary privilege to be able to do this, to be able to have a baby at this age and at this time, and when it happened, I couldn’t really believe it. It still feels really surreal.” It’s clear that becoming a mother at 38 is an emotional milestone for Poppy, one that has taken her by surprise in the best possible way.
Now, as Poppy has reached her six-month mark, she’s fully embracing her pregnancy. “There’s no hiding this bump anymore!” she declared with a smile. The model admitted that at first, she’d tried to squeeze into her regular wardrobe but eventually realised that it was much more comfortable to fully embrace her maternity style. “The last two months trying to squeeze into everything – it just wasn’t helpful for anyone,” she laughed, reflecting on how she’s adjusted her fashion choices for her growing bump.
Despite her initial anxieties about being pregnant at 38, Poppy is now enjoying the journey. “Internally, there’s been anxiety about having a baby, being the age that I am. I’ve been sort of in a constant state of worry but that is all getting less and less the further along I get. It’s less anxiety and more excitement to meet her,” she shared. “I’ve got to the point where I’m just so excited to meet her. If I shut my eyes, I feel like I know her. She’s already making me laugh, I think she’s going to be a funny one.”
With the baby on the way and the support of her loving family, Poppy’s excitement continues to grow.
