River Search for Missing Sisters Called Off After 3 Weeks.
The river search for missing sisters Eliza and Henrietta Huszti has been officially called off after more than three weeks of efforts to locate them. The siblings, aged 32, were last seen on January 7, 2025, on CCTV footage at around 2:12 a.m. on Market Street near the Victoria Bridge in Aberdeen, Scotland.
Authorities had focused their search on the River Dee, as there was no evidence to suggest that Eliza or Henrietta had left the immediate area. However, local superintendent David Howieson confirmed that while the search in the river and Harbour area has concluded, the investigation remains ongoing.
"Our thoughts are very much with their family at what is a very difficult time," Howieson said in a statement. "Extensive and detailed searches have been carried out using a variety of resources, including the dive and marine unit, police dogs, and air support. These searches have now concluded, but inquiries will continue to trace Eliza and Henrietta."

He further noted that coastal areas to the north and south of Aberdeen would continue to be searched, with the police pledging to act on any new information that comes in. "I would again stress there is nothing to suggest any suspicious circumstances or criminality," Howieson added.
The sisters' disappearance has left their family deeply concerned. On the morning of January 7, a text message was sent from Henrietta’s mobile phone to their landlady at 2:12 a.m., stating that the sisters would not be returning to their apartment. The phone was subsequently disconnected and has not been active since. The following day, their belongings were found in the flat, prompting the landlady to alert the authorities.
CCTV footage revealed that the sisters had visited the Victoria Bridge earlier in the day, at around 2:50 p.m. on January 6, and were seen walking near the River Dee shortly before they were last captured on camera at 2:12 a.m. the next morning. Police confirmed that the sisters crossed Aberdeen's Victoria Bridge and turned towards a footpath next to the river in the direction of the Aberdeen Boat Club.
Despite an intensive search, there is still no indication that the sisters left their flat again after their earlier visit to the bridge. Officers have now appealed for anyone who may have seen them earlier in the day.
Eliza and Henrietta’s family, particularly their triplet sister Edit, who last spoke to them on New Year’s Eve, remains deeply concerned. "They appeared happy and cheerful," Edit recalled, "and it’s unlike them to be out on the streets in the early hours of the morning."
Authorities have described the sisters as white, of slim build, and with long brown hair, and are urging anyone with further information to come forward. The search may have ended in the river, but the mystery surrounding their disappearance continues.
