Watch Dave Chappelle’s provocative SNL monologue as he takes aim at Trump, Diddy, and theories surrounding the LA wildfires.
Comedian Dave Chappelle presented a provocative monologue on Saturday Night Live, targeting both Donald Trump and P Diddy during his performance last night.
The 51-year-old American stand-up comedian made his return to the late-night sketch program just under 48 hours prior to President-elect Donald Trump’s inauguration. Chappelle commenced his address by addressing theories surrounding the wildfires in Los Angeles, subsequently shifting focus to Sean “Diddy” Combs’ “freak offs,” and taking a jab at the "petty" Trump, imploring him to "not forget your humanity." “The presidency is no place for petty individuals,” Chappelle remarked.
“Donald Trump, I am aware that you watch this show. "Regardless of whether people voted for you, they are all relying on you. Whether they support you or not, they are all depending on you. The entire world is counting on you. “I genuinely mean this: Good luck.
Dave Chappelle nailed it so beautifully in this SNL monologue. I love watching a master of their craft go to work in real time. Only this guy could pull off Trump, Wildfires, Diddy, Carter, and Carl Winslow in one take. Brilliant! pic.twitter.com/0PIRc3DBdZ

Please strive to do better in the future. We all hope for improvement next time. "Do not lose sight of your humanity and please show compassion for those who are displaced, whether they are in the Palisades or Palestine.”
In a 17-minute segment, Chappelle humorously expressed his weariness of being controversial and his desire to "turn over a new leaf," yet he admitted that the sole reason for his return to SNL was to revisit previous jokes about Trump. He then redirected his focus to the wildfire disaster in Los Angeles, acknowledging that it was "too soon" to make light of the situation.
“The moment I said yes, L.A. burst into flames. And it’s a tough one, you know what I mean, because I’m tired of being controversial, I’m trying to turn over a new leaf," he said while smoking a cigarette.
It is premature to make jokes about a disaster of that magnitude. He remarked that the wildfires represented the costliest natural disaster in U.S. history: “This is because residents in L.A. possess valuable belongings. I could set ablaze 40,000 acres in Mississippi for merely six to seven hundred dollars.”
While discussing various conspiracy theories, Dave elaborated: "There are simply too many variables. A rational individual must at least entertain the notion that perhaps divine forces are displeased with these individuals. Sodomites! "However, that assertion is unfounded, as West Hollywood remained untouched; after all, how can one incinerate what is already ablaze?” He also commented on Luigi Mangione, the 26-year-old charged with the assassination of UnitedHealthcare's CEO, Brian Thompson. Dave remarked: “Many less fortunate individuals were impacted as well.
Numerous people discovered during the week of the fires that they had lost their fire insurance. Luigi is likely thinking, ‘You’re welcome.’ He further stated: “That young man [Luigi] nearly executed the perfect crime.
The only detail he overlooked was shaving his eyebrows.” Dave then shifted his focus to Trump’s derogatory remarks regarding Haitian immigrants. He pointed out that Trump’s insinuation that "they're eating the dogs, they're eating the cats" left him feeling "outraged." Dave also suggested that Haitians "performed jobs that white individuals were unwilling to undertake. It is not that they were incapable; rather, they were preoccupied with other activities: heroin use, homelessness."
Additionally, he tested some new material concerning P Diddy, who is currently facing charges related to sex trafficking and racketeering. Dave confessed that he had never received an invitation to one of Diddy's "freak-offs," stating: "I contemplated it for a moment and thought, ‘Oh my God, I’m unattractive. That was a harsh realization. Can you imagine being in my position, reading the news and discovering that everyone in Hollywood had an orgy without including me? That truly stings.” Dave has largely remained out of the public eye for the past year.
In 2023, he incited a walkout by condemning Israel for its "war crimes" against Palestine during a performance in Boston. The contentious individual also faced criticism from comedian and actress Michelle Buteau regarding his jokes about transgender individuals.
