Why Did Justin Bieber Unfollow Usher and Other Close Friends?

Justin Bieber’s recent social media activity has sparked concern and speculation among his fans. The pop star made waves when he stopped following his longtime mentor and close friend, Usher, on Instagram. This move, which also included unfollowing several other former connections, has left fans wondering what might be behind the decision.

Justin Bieber, 30, has unfollowed his longtime mentor Usher, 46, along with several other close friends, on Instagram, causing fans to speculate about his reasons. This move has sparked conversations on social media, with fans sharing their thoughts on what could be behind these changes.

Usher, who played a pivotal role in launching Justin's career, has always been a significant figure in the singer's life. The two worked together on various songs, with Usher guiding Justin through the highs and lows of the music industry. Their bond was not just professional but personal, making the unfollowing on Instagram all the more surprising.

In addition to Usher, Justin has also unfollowed several other people who were once close to him. This includes his former manager, Scooter Braun, who Justin parted ways with in 2022, as well as Allison Kaye, who worked with him at Braun’s SB Projects. Other notable figures Justin has distanced himself from include Kenny Hamilton, his former bodyguard, and Ryan Good, his “swag coach” and best man at his wedding. Even Poo Bear, the talented songwriter who collaborated with Justin on multiple albums, has been unfollowed.

In a 2020 Instagram post, Justin Bieber showed his admiration for Usher with the caption "Love you bro"

Fans have voiced mixed reactions to the news on Reddit, with many speculating about Justin’s motivations. “Maybe he wants to distance himself from people in his past who treated him poorly,” one fan suggested. Another pointed out, “Having a child really helps put things into perspective,” possibly indicating that fatherhood has led Justin to reassess his relationships.

Despite the unfollowing, Justin’s relationship with Usher appears complicated but not entirely broken. At the 2024 Super Bowl LVIII Halftime Show, Justin declined Usher's invitation to join him on stage but later shared a heartfelt Instagram post, writing, “LOVE YOU MY BROTHER.” With the birth of his son Jack Blues Bieber in August, it seems Justin may be focusing on his family and personal growth.

Usher played a crucial role in launching Bieber's career after discovering him on YouTube. The two developed a close mentor-mentee relationship, with Usher guiding Bieber through the music industry, offering advice, and serving as a role model. Their connection has always been rooted in mutual respect and admiration.

In interviews, Justin has often spoken highly of Usher and credited him for his guidance. He has said that Usher not only taught him about the music business but also about life and how to handle fame. Justin has often referred to Usher as a "big brother," emphasizing their deep bond and how Usher has been there for him through tough times.

One of the most notable moments in their friendship came when Usher signed Bieber to his record label, Raymond Braun Media Group (RBMG). This partnership helped Bieber release his first major album, My World 2.0, which launched him into stardom. Justin has frequently expressed his gratitude toward Usher for believing in him early on.

Justin also opened up about how Usher gave him advice on balancing personal and professional life, especially navigating the pressures of growing up in the public eye.

In an interview with Billboard, Bieber said, "Usher taught me a lot about life. He’s not just a mentor to me, he’s a big brother to me, someone who’s always there to give advice or offer guidance."
