Hogan Lovells Advises Avelios Medical on €30 Million Series A Financing Round Led by Sequoia Capital.
Hogan Lovells has advised Avelios Medical, a Munich-based hospital software developer, in its €30 Million Series A financing round, which was led by Sequoia Capital.
Avelios Medical, which specializes in creating modular software platforms for hospitals, will use the new funding to continue its mission of digitizing hospital workflows and enhancing data-driven patient care. The investment also demonstrates Sequoia Capital's belief in Avelios' innovative potential, particularly in the digital transformation of healthcare.
Anas Biad, Partner at Sequoia Capital, praised Avelios’ groundbreaking hospital information system, stating, "Building a complete hospital information system, including documentation, admin, billing, patient portal and more, is not for the faint-hearted, yet this is precisely what Avelios has built. We were astounded by the depth and breadth of the product, as well as the feedback from their customers, which count some of the largest public and private hospitals in Germany. We are thrilled to partner with these exceptional founders and team as they deliver the modern operating system our healthcare deserves."
Avelios co-founder Christian Albrecht emphasised, "Sequoia has consciously turned away from the classic, short-term investment cycle and focuses on companies that solve fundamental problems. The digitization of patient care requires long-term thinking and sustainable innovation. With Sequoia, we can deliver exactly that – a system built to stand the test of time."
Hogan Lovells' legal team for Avelios Medical included Peter Huber, Partner, Dr. Patrick Waldecker and Artem Vesdenetski, Associates, from the M&A / VC / PE team in Munich, as well as Dr. Falk Schöning, Partner, and Julius Jakob Gertz, Associate, from the Global Regulatory team in Brussels.
