Sharon Osbourne Regrets Preventing Ozzy From Auditioning for 'Pirates of the Caribbean'.

Sharon Osbourne recently admitted that one of her biggest regrets was preventing her husband, Ozzy Osbourne, from auditioning for a role in Pirates of the Caribbean.

The revelation came during her appearance on Billy Corgan’s podcast, The Magnificent Others, where Sharon revealed a behind-the-scenes moment from her career as Ozzy’s manager.

Sharon admitted that Ozzy was once offered a chance to audition for the iconic Disney franchise, but she ultimately decided to turn it down, calling it the "biggest mistake" she made for him.

“He got offered to go and read for Pirates of the Caribbean, and I’ve never said this to anyone,” Sharon shared with Corgan. “And I said no. Now wouldn’t he have been perfect?”

Corgan, who is known for his Smashing Pumpkins frontman role, immediately agreed, echoing, “He would have been perfect! Maybe it’s not too late, but God bless.”

The exact role Ozzy was considered for remains a mystery, but his inclusion in the film franchise certainly could’ve been a memorable moment in Hollywood.

Rock stars have often found themselves part of the Pirates of the Caribbean world, with legendary musicians such as Keith Richards of The Rolling Stones and Paul McCartney of The Beatles making appearances in various films.

Richards portrayed Captain Teague, Johnny Depp’s father, in At World’s End (2007) and On Stranger Tides (2011), while McCartney made a cameo as Uncle Jack in Dead Men Tell No Tales (2017). Given Ozzy's over-the-top persona and larger-than-life theatricality, it’s easy to see him fitting into the adventurous, swashbuckling tone of the series.

Though Ozzy never sailed the high seas with Captain Jack Sparrow, the Prince of Darkness has kept himself busy in other ways, continuing to captivate fans with his legendary music career.

Despite dealing with health concerns in recent years, Ozzy released Patient Number 9 (2022), a critically acclaimed album that won a Grammy for Best Rock Album. Additionally, Ozzy’s Black Sabbath legacy continues to endure, with the band’s final reunion show scheduled for July 5, 2025, in Birmingham.

The event will feature appearances from acts such as Guns N’ Roses, Tool, and even actor Jason Momoa, marking the end of an era for the iconic metal group.

In the world of Pirates of the Caribbean, rock stars have become an unexpected but celebrated part of the cast. Richard’s inclusion set a precedent for the franchise, demonstrating that musical legends could add depth and gravitas to the films.

Had Ozzy joined the crew, it might have added yet another layer of star power to the franchise, cementing his already legendary status in a new and exciting way. For now, Ozzy’s place remains onstage, where his influence and legacy in music and culture are untouchable.

As Sharon Osbourne’s confession highlights, there’s always room for “what-ifs” in the entertainment world. While Ozzy’s absence from Pirates of the Caribbean might be seen as a missed opportunity, it’s also a reminder of how unpredictable and uncharted the paths of celebrity careers can be.

Looking ahead, there’s no doubt that Ozzy Osbourne's name will continue to be synonymous with rock history, whether he’s on the big screen or in front of his loyal fans in concert.
