Saquon Barkley: Running back for the Philadelphia Eagles

Super Bowl 59 Predictions: Chiefs vs Eagles – Who Will Prevail?

The Chiefs, led by star quarterback Patrick Mahomes and tight end Travis Kelce, are aiming for an unprecedented three-peat, hoping to clinch their third consecutive Super Bowl victory. On the other side, the Eagles, with standout players such as Jalen Hurts, Saquon Barkley, and AJ Brown, are out for revenge after their narrow defeat in Super Bowl 57. Last year, Kansas City triumphed 38-35 in a thrilling contest in Arizona, and fans are hoping for another equally exciting matchup.

While the Eagles have a roster full of talent, making them the favorites, the Chiefs have built a reputation for their never-say-die attitude and ability to secure close victories throughout the season. So, who will be crowned Super Bowl champions this year? We’ve gathered predictions from some of the top NFL players, coaches, and analysts to weigh in on the big game.

Efe Obada, Washington Commanders Defensive Lineman:
"Unfortunately, I've witnessed firsthand that the Eagles can blow out teams. If the Chiefs can't contain Barkley, Hurts, and the Eagles' receiving corps early, I think it's going to be very tough. But Mahomes is a magician who can dig them out of that hole, so it's very hard to bet against him. I think it's 50-50."

Cameron Dicker, Los Angeles Chargers Kicker:
"I think the Eagles are going to win. I hate the Chiefs - you’ve got to hate the Chiefs as a Charger - so I can't see them winning. I think the D-line for the Eagles is going to dominate and Saquon has looked unstoppable."

Kenny Moore, Indianapolis Colts Cornerback:
"The name of the game is running the football. Philadelphia has a unique, effective, physical run game, so Kansas City has to stop the run, first and foremost. For the Eagles, they have to mix up the run and pass and let Saquon be Saquon. I've got it 30-27 Philly."

Larry Ogunjobi, Pittsburgh Steelers Defensive Tackle:
"For the Chiefs, the key is stopping the run game. For the Eagles, it’s stopping Patrick Mahomes and that link up he has with Travis Kelce. It should be exciting, I’m going 20-17 Chiefs."

Brian Thomas Jnr, Jacksonville Jaguars Wide Receiver:
"I’ve got the Chiefs winning. If they keep the game close, Patrick Mahomes is going to handle the rest from there. If they go out there and play hard, do what they know they can do, then the Chiefs are going to bring it home."

Grady Jarrett, Atlanta Falcons Defensive Tackle:
"I think the keys are going to be affecting the quarterback and stopping the run. It sounds simple - but with the running back the Eagles have got and the quarterbacks they've both got, that will be the key."

Jerry Jones, Dallas Cowboys Owner:
"Candidly, if Philadelphia can pull it off... they’re from our division... I don’t like the Eagles, they’re one of our biggest rivals, so I’ll be raising up about three in the morning and screaming into my pillow. That’s what you’ll hear across New Orleans."

As the stage is set for what promises to be an unforgettable Super Bowl, it’s clear that both teams have the talent to take home the coveted Vince Lombardi Trophy. Only time will tell which squad will prevail, but one thing’s for sure—Super Bowl 59 is not to be missed!

Who will win the Super Bowl?

Kansas City Chiefs

Donald Trump and Taylor Swift at the Super Bowl: A Clash of Stars and Politics

As the Super Bowl on Sunday, February 9, 2025, draws closer, all eyes will be on two of America’s most influential figures: President Donald Trump and pop sensation Taylor Swift. Their contrasting roles in the political and entertainment worlds have set the stage for an intriguing spectacle in New Orleans, where the Philadelphia Eagles will face off against the Kansas City Chiefs. Both figures, who have made headlines in recent years for their public stances on politics and social issues, will be in the same venue, creating a unique moment for millions of viewers.

Trump's Complex Relationship with the NFL

The anticipated attendance of President Trump at this year's Super Bowl underscores his long and complicated history with the National Football League (NFL). Trump's involvement with the league has evolved over time, starting from his early ambitions to own a team to his more recent antagonism toward the NFL's policies.

Trump’s interactions with the NFL were marked by controversy during his first term in office. He controversially downplayed the risks of concussions in football, a sport that has made strides to reduce head injuries. His remarks about the NFL’s declining popularity in 2017—suggesting it was no longer as violent as it once was—drew the ire of many players and team owners. Trump’s most contentious moment came when he publicly urged NFL owners to fire players who protested racial injustice by kneeling during the national anthem.

This led to backlash, with even some of Trump’s previous allies in the NFL speaking out against him. After the Philadelphia Eagles won the 2018 Super Bowl, Trump canceled the traditional White House celebration when most of the team declined to attend.

“They disagree with their president because he insists that they proudly stand for the national anthem, hand on heart, in honor of the great men and women of our military and the people of our country,” he said at the time.

Despite the rocky past, much has changed. Trump is now set to make history as the first sitting president to attend the Super Bowl in person. The 45th president will be in the Superdome in New Orleans, where he will watch the Eagles take on the Chiefs as a guest of Gayle Benson, owner of the New Orleans Saints.

Before the big game, Trump took to Truth Social to share his thoughts on the matchup, offering praise for several players and coaches—without naming names—and critiquing the NFL’s new kickoff rules.

“Two great Quarterbacks in this game. Also, an unbelievable running back, and the absolute best tight end in football (Ever!). Incredible coaching! If they would only get rid of that really weird looking new Kickoff ‘deal,’ which actually makes football more dangerous, they would be doing everybody, especially the fans, a big favor. ANYWAY, IT WILL BE A GREAT GAME!!!” Trump wrote.

Trump's history with the NFL stretches back to the 1980s when he sought to purchase various NFL teams, including the Baltimore Colts, New England Patriots, and Buffalo Bills. After failing to secure an NFL franchise, he bought the New Jersey Generals in the United States Football League (USFL) in 1984. Trump became embroiled in legal battles with the NFL when he pushed fellow owners to sue the league for allegedly sabotaging the USFL’s attempts to compete in the fall. Despite winning a symbolic $3 in damages, the USFL soon folded.

Even after his political career began, Trump maintained connections with the NFL. During his 2016 presidential campaign, he used his relationships with New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft and quarterback Tom Brady to gain support from football fans. After his election, Kraft and other NFL team owners made significant donations to Trump’s 2017 inauguration.

While vice presidents have attended Super Bowls in the past, presidents typically only participate in pre-game interviews with networks. Trump mentioned in his Truth Social post that he would appear in an interview with Fox before the game, while President Biden opted out of such interviews the past two years.

Trump is also expected to meet with survivors of a recent attack in New Orleans’ French Quarter and emergency medical personnel who helped them. His appearance will likely be featured on the Superdome’s video screens.

Taylor Swift's Super Bowl Connection

On the other hand, Taylor Swift has kept a relatively low profile in the world of politics, understanding that taking a strong public stance could alienate a portion of her fanbase. That said, her personal relationships and public statements have occasionally landed her in the spotlight in political contexts.

One of the most significant political moments for Swift came in 2024 when she endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris. The endorsement was made with a playful reference to Trump’s former running mate, J.D. Vance, who had disparaged “childless cat ladies.” Swift’s endorsement included the tongue-in-cheek moniker, “Childless Cat Lady.” Trump responded quickly, posting on Truth Social just four days later: “I HATE TAYLOR SWIFT!”

Despite her private political leanings, Swift has been a regular presence at Kansas City Chiefs games, showing support for tight end Travis Kelce. Swift has attended Kelce’s games at the Superdome in New Orleans before, even selling out the venue for three consecutive nights in October 2024 during her Eras tour.

While Swift typically avoids political statements in her public life, her friendships with figures such as Brittany Mahomes, the wife of Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes, and Randi Mahomes, who has been seen wearing a MAGA cap, have caused some tension within her fanbase. In contrast to Swift’s silence on social media, Kelce, who is rumored to be in a relationship with Swift, has remained diplomatic when asked about Trump’s attendance at the Super Bowl.

“Having the president there, you know, it’s the best country in the world. So, that’d be pretty cool,” Kelce said, maintaining a neutral stance on the matter.

A Super Bowl for the Ages

With both figures from opposing political ideologies in attendance, the dynamic between Swift and Trump will surely be a subject of interest for millions of Super Bowl viewers. While Trump is expected to receive a warm welcome in Louisiana, where he won 60% of the vote during the last election, Swift’s presence will add another layer of intrigue.

Despite her fans' more liberal leanings, Swift has carefully navigated the intersection of her public persona and her personal beliefs, maintaining a delicate balance between the two. The potential for an awkward or even surprising encounter between the two celebrities at the Super Bowl is high, given their contrasting political and personal views.

As millions of viewers tune in, the intrigue surrounding their presence will undoubtedly make for a spectacle both on and off the field. Whether Trump and Swift’s interaction sparks tension or an unexpected moment of camaraderie, one thing is certain: the 2025 Super Bowl will not only be a showdown between two football teams but also a contest for attention between two of the most famous figures in the world today.

Super Bowl Ad Prices Top $8 Million as Record Demand Fuels Fox Sales

Fox Corp. sold at least 10 of the commercials that will air during its February 9 broadcast of the NFL championship game between the Kansas City Chiefs and the Philadelphia Eagles for over $8 million, according to two people familiar with the matter. This marks a new record price for Super Bowl inventory, highlighting the growing significance of the event for Madison Avenue in the streaming era.

“The Super Bowl is the only place where you can aggregate legitimate scale with one commercial,” says Mark Evans, executive vice president of sales at Fox Sports. “It’s not like any other thing.” Fox, which initially sought around $7 million for 30 seconds of Super Bowl ad time, had sold the majority of its Super Bowl LIX inventory by August. However, demand remained high even after Fox CEO Lachlan Murdoch announced during the company’s third-quarter investor call that all ads had sold out.

In fact, the recent California wildfires led a group of sponsors, including State Farm Insurance, to request to be released from their deals, according to a person familiar with the matter. Fox was able to re-sell their ad time for higher prices due to intense interest. Some of this activity may have contributed to the hefty $8 million-plus agreements. Even ads surrounding the Super Bowl telecast have seen price increases. Thirty seconds of ad time in Fox’s late pre-game coverage have gone for as much as $4.5 million, according to one of the sources, compared with $2 million in previous years. A 30-second ad during Fox’s post-game coverage might now cost around $4 million, up from between $2.5 million and $3 million in the past.

Fox’s broadcast of the 2023 Super Bowl generated approximately $600 million in total ad revenue from the main event and related programming.

Fox will also be able to fit in additional commercials during the main event. The NFL, which has final authority on the number of commercial breaks and ads during the Super Bowl, has allowed the network to add what are believed to be more than five spots as part of “floating” breaks, which could occur after a timeout, an injury, or any unexpected stop in the game. Fox and the NFL will share the revenue from these ads, according to a person familiar with the negotiations.

The commercials will appear in what the NFL refers to as “flex pods,” explains Mike North, the league’s vice president of broadcast planning. These breaks were designed to reduce the frequency of interruptions to the game, he says. “The concept lets you take advantage of downtime. If you’re lucky, you get to the fourth quarter and maybe eight minutes in the late game and the only break is if it’s the two-minute warning,” North says. “Now we can just play football and let the game continue with rapid-fire action and excitement.”

Among the advertisers confirmed for the 2025 Super Bowl are Anheuser-Busch InBev, PepsiCo, Ferrara Candy Co.’s Nerds, Georgia-Pacific’s Angel Soft, Squarespace, and Stellantis. Fox’s Evans notes that viewers can expect fewer automakers this year, as well as potentially fewer movie studios and streaming services.

Every year the Super Bowl serves up its helpings of commercials, and this year is no different! Here’s the Lawyer Monthly review of Super Bowl commercials, where we rank the best and worst ads leading up to the big game.

This year is shaping up to be a disappointment in terms of ads. Even the top performers on this list aren’t much better than average. A larger than usual number of commercials rely solely on the charm of a recognizable celebrity (typically male). The concepts often outweigh the execution, leading to ads that are cluttered, overcomplicated, and lacking in straightforward, effective storytelling or atmosphere.

Keep in mind that not all of these ads will appear during the game. Depending on the broadcast or streaming platform, you might encounter different selections of commercials, and some ads will only be shown in specific regions.

No. 1 Stella Artois

David Beckham discovers he has a secret twin, who just so happens to resemble Matt Damon. It's a reasonably charming moment, and you can never go wrong with a Ben Affleck joke.

No. 2 Squarespace

Actor Barry Keoghan takes a ride on a donkey through the picturesque countryside of rural Ireland (returning to the world of The Banshees of Inisherin), delivering customers' websites by tossing laptops into farmyards and through pub windows. It’s charming, even though the setup clearly exists to make sure Keoghan shouts “Squarespace!” every few moments.

No. 3 Starbucks

Airing during the pregame show, the coffee maker’s sleek "Hello Again" ad aims to remind us of why we fell in love with Starbucks in the first place. And, it sort of succeeds!

No. 4 HexClad

Gordon Ramsay is enlisted to cook for a visiting alien, portrayed by Pete Davidson. The concept is clever, though the Ramsay-to-Davidson ratio is exactly the opposite of what you'd hope for.

No 5. Ritz

The ever-grumpy Aubrey Plaza and Michael Shannon embrace their salty sides, because, of course, Ritz crackers are salty. (Bad Bunny makes an appearance, just to mix things up.) It’s more coherent than many of the one-joke ads, and Plaza and Shannon make a great duo.

And the worst Super Bowl Advert this year goes to?

Would you center your campaign for frozen pizza snacks around an animated alien who seems to be the walking embodiment of heartburn?

Super Bowl LVIII Generated over $1 Billion For Las Vegas. What will Super Bowl LIX generate?

Super Bowl LVIII generated over $1 Billion in economic impact for Las Vegas in 2024. Lawyer Monthly takes a closer look at the figures involved. Las Vegas, one of the world’s largest entertainment meccas, is no stranger to hosting major events. But when the city welcomed Super Bowl LVIII, it marked an entirely new level of excitement and economic impact.

According to statistics compiled for the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority by Applied Analysis, Super Bowl LVIII spurred a massive economic boom, with $1 billion in total spending throughout the city. Gross visitor spending alone surpassed $877 million. On average, visitors for the Super Bowl spent $2,660, more than double what a typical visitor to Las Vegas spends ($1,260 per trip).

While 123.7 million people watched the Kansas City Chiefs defeat the San Francisco 49ers in a thrilling 25-22 overtime victory on Super Bowl Sunday, the economic effects of the event were already being felt earlier in the week. For the first time since the NFL allowed fans at opening night events, this annual gathering was held at Allegiant Stadium, the venue for the game. More than 29,000 fans and media members attended, making it a memorable pre-game experience.

A major highlight of Super Bowl week was the Super Bowl Experience, which featured interactive exhibits and attracted over 200,000 fans to the Mandalay Bay Convention Center. Situated within walking distance of Allegiant Stadium, the convention center became an essential hub for fans eager to immerse themselves in the Super Bowl atmosphere over the four-day event.

Beyond the official events, Las Vegas was alive with hundreds of gatherings hosted by the NFL, NFL partners, sponsors, broadcast partners, and third-party event promoters, cementing its role as the epicenter of Super Bowl LVIII.

At the heart of the action, Resorts World Las Vegas hosted several high-profile events, including the NFL Honors and Patrick Mahomes' Adidas brand event. Its Zouk nightclub was also the venue for the Chiefs’ private, post-Super Bowl celebration. Resorts World, like many prominent Las Vegas hotels, usually sells out during Super Bowl weekends when the game is held in other cities. However, for Super Bowl LVIII, the hotel sold out 2-3 months in advance and saw business that typically would take 4-5 days to match, eclipsing the monthly sales of many Las Vegas properties.

Surge in Demand

For Super Bowl LVIII, the entire city felt the surge in demand, with nearly 289,000 room nights generated by the event. More than 260,000 visitors descended on Las Vegas, with many coming for the experience itself without attending the game. The city also saw the arrival of over 6,000 credentialed media members.

This surge in activity was evident on the Monday after the game, when Harry Reid International Airport recorded a single-day record of 104,000 passengers. This busy day was reminiscent of the travel surge seen in Phoenix during Super Bowl LVII in 2023. On Feb. 13, 2023, the day after the Chiefs’ win, Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport set its own record with over 200,000 visitors.

In terms of economic output, Phoenix generated an estimated $1.3 billion in total economic activity for the state of Arizona during Super Bowl LVII, contributing $726.1 million to the state’s gross domestic product. By comparison, Las Vegas saw $1.003 billion in total economic activity for Super Bowl LVIII, including more than $230 million in incremental direct wages and salaries paid to local workers during the weekend.

The financial benefits extended to government coffers as well. The event generated $33.6 million in tax revenues for state and local governments, encompassing taxes from room rates, sales, entertainment, and gaming.

Las Vegas’ success as a Super Bowl host doesn’t appear to be a one-off. As the city builds its reputation for hosting massive events, the NFL sees it as a key destination for future Super Bowls.

New Orleans

With Super Bowl LVIII setting new records for both attendance and economic impact, Las Vegas has firmly established itself as one of the premier locations for the big game. And as the city continues to grow as a major player on the global stage, future Super Bowls in Las Vegas are all but assured.

Super Bowl LIX in New Orleans, is projected to bring significant economic benefits to the city. Estimates suggest the event could generate up to $500 million in economic activity, bolstering local businesses, tourism, and city revenues. Although the event’s immediate impact has been mixed, with some local businesses reporting a slower-than-expected week, the long-term benefits are clear. Jeffrey Carreras, owner of Tracy’s Original Irish Channel Bar, noted that the week before the game was “really slow,” yet the city’s overall economy stands to gain from the influx of visitors.

In addition to the financial windfall, the NFL Foundation and the New Orleans Super Bowl Host Committee have allocated $3.5 million in grants to support 65 local nonprofit organizations. This initiative aims to benefit underserved communities in the area. With an estimated $500 million economic boost, Super Bowl LIX represents a major opportunity for New Orleans to capitalize on tourism and hospitality, while also contributing to the city's long-term growth and development. The event is expected to attract tens of thousands of visitors, providing a vital boost to local businesses and services throughout the city.
