Harvey Weinstein Responds to Adrien Brody's Oscars Speech Mentioning His Children.
Harvey Weinstein has responded after Adrien Brody referenced his children in his emotional acceptance speech at the 2025 Academy Awards.
Brody, 51, won his second Best Actor Oscar for his role in The Brutalist and dedicated the award to his partner, Georgina Chapman, and her children, Dash and India, who are Weinstein’s children from his previous marriage. Brody’s heartfelt speech included a personal shout-out to the kids, mentioning their nickname for Weinstein, “Popsy.”
"I share this with my amazing partner Georgina, who has not only reinvigorated my own self-worth but my sense of value and my values, and her beautiful children, Dash and India," Brody said. "It's been a rollercoaster, but thank you for accepting me into your life, and Popsy's coming home a winner."
Weinstein’s Response to Brody’s Speech
In response to Brody’s mention of his children, a spokesperson for Harvey Weinstein, Juda Engelmayer said that Weinstein was “happy for Georgina” and grateful that his children were “being loved and cared for as they deserve to be.”

Brody and Chapman have been in a relationship since 2019, following her 2017 divorce from Weinstein after his sexual assault allegations became public.
Weinstein’s Health Struggles and Legal Battles
While Brody celebrated his Oscar win, Weinstein, 72, is currently serving a lengthy prison sentence at Rikers Island. He was convicted of rape and sexual assault charges but continues to deny all allegations.
In October 2024, reports revealed Weinstein had been diagnosed with chronic myeloid leukemia, a rare type of bone marrow cancer. He spent much of the summer hospitalized due to a variety of health issues, including Covid, double pneumonia, and heart-related complications.
“Harvey is fighting for his health and healthcare,” Engelmayer stated. “It’s challenging where he is and not in the hospital where he should be. He is doing as well as he can.” Weinstein also recently went to the prison hospital for blood pressure issues but has since returned to his cell.
Weinstein’s Legal Situation: Convictions and Retrials
Weinstein’s legal troubles are far from over. In 2020, his original conviction for rape and sexual assault was overturned, and a new trial was ordered.
The Court of Appeals ruled that the trial judge allowed unfair testimony from women who were not part of the original case. These new testimonies will be part of his retrial, set to begin on April 15, 2025, in New York.

Following the retrial, Weinstein will start serving a 16-year sentence in California for a separate conviction related to rape charges in Los Angeles. Weinstein was found guilty of rape in 2022, and his conviction was upheld, leading to the California sentence.
Weinstein’s Fall from Grace
Harvey Weinstein was once one of Hollywood’s most powerful figures as the co-founder of Miramax and The Weinstein Company, producing hits like Pulp Fiction and Shakespeare in Love.
However, his career came crashing down amid allegations of sexual misconduct by multiple women, which sparked the #MeToo movement in 2017. Since then, Weinstein has faced public condemnation, legal battles, and prison time for his crimes.
Weinstein’s upcoming retrial will likely bring new attention to his long-running legal issues.
