Jonathan Majors is speaking out about his past trauma as he attempts to rebuild his life and career following his 2023 assault conviction. In a new interview with The Hollywood Reporter, the 35-year-old actor revealed that he was sexually abused by both men and women from the age of nine.
Majors disclosed that his abuse began when he was just nine years old, shortly after his father left the family. “From people who are supposed to look after you, in the absence of a father. I was f---ed up,” he shared.
The Creed III actor recently opened up to his mother about his past, to which she expressed regret for not being able to protect him. However, Majors reassured her, saying, “It’s not even an issue, mom. I just want you to know. And now we can all get busy and continue to connect and grow and learn from it.”
Majors said that therapy and a domestic violence program have helped him process his experiences and understand his own behavior in relationships.

Majors' revelations come nearly a year after his April 2024 sentencing, which followed a highly publicized domestic assault trial involving his ex-girlfriend, Grace Jabbari. In December 2023, a jury found him guilty of misdemeanor assault in the third degree (recklessly causing physical injury) and second-degree harassment. However, he was acquitted of two other charges, including assault with intent to cause harm.
Following the verdict, Marvel Studios immediately fired Majors, removing him from his role as Kang the Conqueror in the Avengers franchise. The conviction also led to the loss of other major Hollywood opportunities. Meanwhile, Jabbari dropped a separate civil lawsuit against him in November 2024.
Despite the controversy, Majors has received public support from some Hollywood figures, including Creed III co-star Michael B. Jordan. Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, Jordan praised Majors’ “resilience and strength”, adding, “That’s my boy.”
Majors also addressed his current relationship with actress Meagan Good, whom he began dating in 2023. The couple got engaged in November 2024. Reflecting on his past behavior in relationships, Majors admitted, “There are no excuses, but by getting help, you begin to understand things about yourself.”
Majors is now preparing for his first film release since his legal troubles. Magazine Dreams, in which he plays an aspiring bodybuilder, will hit theaters on March 21, 2025. The film was completed before his 2023 arrest, and while he expressed his desire to continue acting, he acknowledged that his future in Hollywood is uncertain.
"That’s not my call. I don’t have a studio. And I’ve given up control," he told THR.
As Majors navigates the fallout from his conviction and the revelations about his past, he appears focused on personal growth, self-reflection, and rebuilding both his life and career.
