Sean Lowe’s Dog Attack: How It All Started

On March 13, 2025, Sean Lowe was preparing dinner outside, grilling with friends while his wife and children were away. In the midst of a beautiful evening, a strange series of events began to unfold. Smoke from the barbecue set off the house’s smoke detectors, prompting Sean to open doors and windows to ventilate the house. As he fanned the smoke with a rag, the calm atmosphere quickly turned into chaos when Moose, the family dog, lunged at him.

In a detailed Instagram video, Sean explained, “He shows his teeth at me and just attacks me.” What followed was a brutal dog attack. Moose didn’t simply bite and retreat, as many dogs might when scared; he aggressively ripped into Sean’s arm. Describing the frightening moment, Sean recalled feeling like he was “fighting for my life” as the dog inflicted deep wounds on his arm, leaving a significant amount of blood. Sean’s friends rushed him to the hospital, where he received stitches to close the gaping wounds caused by the dog.

A Second Attack: The Trauma of Facing Moose Again

The nightmare didn’t end after the first attack. Less than 12 hours later, Moose, now outside the home, ran back in and launched another dog attack on Sean. The second dog bite left Sean physically shaken and forced him to receive more stitches. “Going through a dog attack is pretty darn traumatic,” Sean shared. “Having to relive it less than 12 hours later, seeing that dog running straight at you, is a feeling I don’t think I ever want to experience again.”

This second attack underscored the extreme and unexpected aggressive dog behavior Moose displayed—an unsettling reality that left Sean and Catherine, as well as their children, shaken to the core. The incident led the family to reevaluate the safety of having Moose in their home, especially with young children around.

Understanding Moose’s Aggression: The Dog’s Troubling Past

While Sean Lowe expressed his shock and disbelief over Moose’s sudden violent outbursts, he also made it clear that he didn’t blame the dog for the attacks. Moose, a boxer, had been adopted by the Lowe family as a Christmas gift for their children. Sean speculated that Moose may have experienced a traumatic past before being brought into their home, which could have contributed to his unpredictable behavior.

“It’s clear he experienced a lot of trauma before we got him and had something neurologically wrong where just a switch flipped and he turned into an absolute killer,” Sean explained.

Moose’s sudden aggression, particularly given his calm demeanor in the past, led Sean and Catherine to the heart-wrenching decision to remove the dog from their home. While Sean emphasized that he did not blame the dog, the priority had to be the safety of their family.

Catherine Giudici’s Support During the Ordeal: A Family’s Strength

In the wake of the traumatic events, Catherine Giudici has remained a steadfast source of support for Sean. On March 18, 2025, Catherine posted a heartfelt message on Instagram, sharing a photo of Sean with their daughter, Mia. In her caption, Catherine wrote, “We love this man so much” and added a supportive orange heart emoji. She also disabled comments to protect her family’s privacy during such a sensitive time.

Catherine’s unwavering support highlights the couple’s strong bond as they navigate the difficult aftermath together. Their shared commitment to supporting each other has provided an emotional foundation for their family, ensuring Sean can recover physically and emotionally from this traumatic experience.

The Decision to Rehome Moose: A Difficult but Necessary Step

After the second attack, Sean and Catherine realized that for the safety of their children and family, Moose could no longer stay in their home. Despite their initial hopes and excitement for the dog, the couple made the difficult decision to have Moose removed. “Police were dispatched to the residence to take Moose away,” Sean shared. This decision, though heart-wrenching, was made out of an abundance of caution and love for their children’s safety.

The Lowe family’s experience with Moose serves as a painful reminder of the complexities of adopting rescue dogs, particularly those with unknown histories. Although Moose had been adopted with the best of intentions, his behavior ultimately posed too great a risk to their family’s well-being.

Moving Forward: Healing and Family Recovery After the Dog Attack

The Lowe family is now focused on recovery, both physically and emotionally, as they come to terms with the aftermath of the attacks. Sean and Catherine are committed to ensuring their children feel safe and supported during this time. Despite the trauma they’ve faced, the couple is determined to move forward together, drawing strength from their shared experience.

As Sean continues to recover, the Lowe family is focused on healing and processing the emotional toll of the events. While Moose’s sudden aggression has forced difficult decisions, the Lowe family is united in their commitment to each other and to creating a safe environment for their children.

Lessons in Pet Ownership and Family Safety

The traumatic events involving Moose offer valuable lessons on the unpredictability of adopting pets, particularly those with a troubled past. The Lowe family’s experience underscores the importance of recognizing potential risks and making tough decisions when it comes to the safety and well-being of loved ones. As they move forward, the Lowe family’s story serves as a reminder to prioritize family safety while navigating the complexities of animal adoption and pet care.
