Brown says the film paints him as a “serial rapist and sexual abuser”—claims he calls not just false, but deeply damaging.
The synopsis for the October documentary—which explores allegations of sexual assault aboard a yacht and revisits Brown’s tumultuous relationship with Rihanna—reads: “Following a notorious assault, Chris Brown rebuilt his music career, but a rising number of sexual assault claims is raising serious concerns.”
According to his legal team, the accusations presented in the documentary aren't just misleading—they're reckless. Brown says the filmmakers ignored evidence that some of the women involved had been discredited, choosing instead to chase sensational headlines and viral clicks.

Court documents show that Warner Bros., Discovery, and production company Ample Entertainment are pushing back hard. Their attorneys argue the documentary is protected by 'free speech' and that any statements made were either true or based on opinion—not defamatory lies.
They also insist Brown, being a celebrity and a public figure, faces a high legal bar. In cases like this, he has to prove that the producers acted with what’s called “actual malice”—basically, that they either knew the statements were false or ignored the truth entirely. That’s no easy feat in court.
But Brown’s side isn’t backing down.
“This isn’t about dodging accountability,” said one source close to the case. “It’s about not letting people rewrite your story for ratings.”

A Warner Bros. Investigation Discovery spokesperson recently said: ‘We stand behind the production and will vigorously defend ourselves against this lawsuit.’
Brown wants the court to not only remove the documentary from circulation, but to make the companies behind it pay—and pay big. Meanwhile, the producers are asking for the lawsuit to be thrown out altogether.
The legal battle is ongoing, and Brown isn’t only fighting this case, he’s also entangled in a separate $90 million lawsuit over an alleged dog attack involving a former housekeeper, which he strongly denies.
But this defamation case feels different. This one is personal and whatever reputation Chris Brown has left is firmly on the line.
The lawsuit states that “Mr. Brown has never been convicted of any sex-related offense—whether it be rape, sexual battery, or assault—yet the documentary presents him, in every way possible, as a serial rapist and abuser.”
It also states that part of the $500 million Brown is seeking would be donated to organizations that support survivors of sexual abuse.
Is this just another celebrity trying to clean up his image—or is it a cautionary tale about what happens when the media pushes a narrative too far?
