George Hunter Joins Sidley’s M&A Practice in New York.
Sidley Austin LLP has made a significant addition to its New York office with the arrival of George Hunter as a partner in the firm’s Mergers and Acquisitions (M&A) practice. Formerly a partner at Jones Day, Hunter is known for his deep experience advising public companies and their boards on high-stakes transactional and governance matters.
Mr. Hunter’s practice focuses on public company M&A, shareholder activism, securities law compliance, and corporate governance. He has played a leading role in numerous complex, high-profile transactions across a range of deal structures and industries. His sector experience includes aerospace and defense, digital and energy infrastructure, mining, consumer goods, and retail.

George Hunter’s arrival is expected to further strengthen Sidley’s multidisciplinary approach to M&A and its closely aligned practices. He has previously worked alongside several current Sidley lawyers, including New York partners Adam Cromie, Dave Grubman, and Justin Macke, paving the way for a seamless integration.
