DOJ Lawyer to Lead Paul Hastings' Appellate Group.
Benjamin Snyder, a legal professional who has represented the United States in Supreme Court cases concerning regulatory issues and the free speech of advertisers is set to join Paul Hastings in Washington, D.C., where he will co-lead the firm's appellate practice.
Benjamin Snyder, who recently concluded a five-year tenure as an assistant to the solicitor general at the Department of Justice, has announced his intention to enhance the firm's representation of private sector clients in appellate and Supreme Court matters. He will assume the role of co-chair of the appellate practice in December, partnering with litigation partner Stephen Kinnaird.
“This is an exciting time to go into private practice and represent clients,” Snyder said in an interview. “There’s been so much change in the courts, and to help clients understand that and push positions that you might not have been able to push a few years ago, I think that’s really exciting.”
“It’s really an opportunity for appellate practices generally and my practice in particular,” Snyder said of the last Supreme Court term. “One of the really interesting things to watch over the next few years is how those decisions are applied. You can imagine them applied narrowly or broadly, but it’s not clear what the dominant trend will be. Helping clients understand that and shape that will be a substantial part of my practice .”
Paul Hastings chair Frank Lopez said Snyder will deepen the firm’s ability to represent clients at all levels of litigation.
