Alameda County Hit-and-Run: Motorcyclist Killed on I-580A.

A motorcyclist lost his life in a hit-and-run incident on Wednesday 6th November evening on the eastbound lanes of Interstate Highway 580 in Alameda County, as reported by the California Highway Patrol.

The CHP indicated that at approximately 7:40 p.m., officers were notified of a collision involving a large truck and a motorcyclist on eastbound I-580, situated west of Grant Line Road and near the Stone Cut railroad overcrossing. Upon arrival, they discovered the motorcyclist lying in the traffic lanes with critical injuries.

The motorcyclist was pronounced dead shortly thereafter. According to the CHP, investigators determined that a gold SUV, potentially an older model of Lexus, was observed "erratically weaving" through traffic prior to the incident. The SUV allegedly continued to maneuver dangerously, changing lanes until it sideswiped the motorcycle, which was navigating between lanes.

As a result of the collision, both the motorcycle and its rider were propelled underneath a passing big-rig in an adjacent lane. The CHP reported that both the big-rig and the gold SUV momentarily halted after the accident before departing the scene.

The big-rig was noted to be transporting a white shipping container on a flatbed, with the container described as white featuring red lettering. Authorities are urging anyone with information about the incident and the vehicles involved to contact the CHP's Dublin office at (925) 828-0466.
