Teacher who raped student, 12, and got pregnant sentenced to 25 years.
A teacher from Tennessee, who engaged in sexual relations with a 12-year-old student and subsequently became pregnant, has been sentenced to 25 years in prison.
Alissa McCommon, formerly employed at Charger Academy, was charged with exploiting her position of trust to manipulate minors under her care, fostering relationships with students both in and out of the educational environment. Her sentencing follows alarming claims that she may have had as many as 21 victims.
The ex-fourth-grade teacher entered a guilty plea to multiple charges, including child rape, statutory rape, solicitation of minors, and sexual exploitation of minors. Circuit Court Judge Blake Neill sentenced McCommon to 25 years without the possibility of parole and mandated that she register as a Violent Sex Offender.

Authorities reported that McCommon accessed her victims by establishing personal connections, interacting with them on social media, and even befriending their mothers. One victim, a 12-year-old boy, reportedly received over 200 calls from McCommon, along with explicit images sent through Snapchat. Investigators alleged that she threatened self-harm if he attempted to terminate their illicit relationship.
The case took a dramatic turn when McCommon asserted that she was pregnant with the boy's child. DNA testing corroborated her claims, but a judge later determined that she would have no contact with the infant, who is now in the custody of the victim’s family. During the sentencing hearing, the mother of the 12-year-old victim delivered a poignant statement condemning McCommon’s actions.
She expressed, "The innocent child will be loved and raised without your influence. There’s no amount of time they can give you that will equal what God will give you. You will burn in hell." McCommon’s predatory conduct has been traced back several years, with the investigation commencing in 2021 after a former student reported inappropriate interactions, as reported by the New York Post. The case gained traction in 2023 when a parent notified authorities about concerning text messages sent by McCommon to her son.
