A mother and her 2-year-old daughter were tragically murdered, and two other children sustained injuries, following a shooting incident perpetrated by the father in their family home.
The assailant was subsequently killed by law enforcement in Louisiana. Authorities were alerted to the shooting at a residence in River Ridge around 4:00 a.m. local time on Saturday, January 18.
Upon arrival, they discovered a deceased woman and child, along with two other children suffering from gunshot wounds, as reported by the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office in a news release.
The suspect has been identified as 46-year-old Glenn Bohn Jr., while the victims were named as his wife, Dung Pham, aged 40, and their daughter, Amy Bohne, aged 2. Sheriff Joseph Lopinto informed the media that a 13-year-old girl had contacted the police, claiming that “her father shot her mother and the siblings inside the residence.”
Sheriff Lopinto elaborated to FOX 8 New Orleans that deputies found the bodies of a 40-year-old woman and a 2-year-old child in the hallway. Additionally, a 9-year-old child and the girl who made the emergency call were discovered with gunshot wounds. The suspect was located in a back bedroom of the home, where he allegedly brandished a firearm. In response, deputies returned fire, resulting in the suspect's death at the scene.
The 9-year-old is reported to be in critical condition, while the 13-year-old is stable after sustaining an ankle injury from a gunshot, according to Sheriff Lopinto. Both children were transported to a pediatric hospital for treatment. Sheriff Lopinto confirmed that the injured children are the biological offspring of the suspect.
He stated, “Our initial investigation indicates the suspect shot all of the victims inside the residence.” The injured teenager has been identified as Tier Bohne, an eighth-grader, by Archbishop Chapelle High School on social media, where the school expressed its deep sorrow over the tragic event.
