Lady Gaga Confirms She Penned 'Born This Way' in '10 F---ing Minutes'
Lady Gaga’s songwriting process may be quicker than fans realized! During an appearance on Hot Ones with Sean Evans on Thursday, Feb. 13, the "Born This Way" singer confirmed that she wrote her iconic hit in a remarkably short amount of time.
When Evans referenced Gaga's previous comment about writing "Born This Way" in "10 f---ing minutes," the 38-year-old artist was initially surprised, exclaiming, "Oh my God, I said that?" but quickly confirmed the statement to be true. Gaga explained, "For 'Born This Way' and a lot of my songs, I hear it pretty quickly and then I just have to follow it."
She further described her creative process, saying, "To me when I'm making music, I say that I'm listening, so it's a feeling of receiving, which is probably why I made that really dumb comment about myself."

The 14-time Grammy Award winner’s 2011 anthem, "Born This Way," became a massive success, quickly climbing to No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. It was certified platinum six times and earned the title of iTunes' fastest-selling single, with over one million downloads within just five days.
In addition to revealing her fast-paced writing process, Gaga also shared insights into how she crafts a good hook. Reflecting on her previous remark, "without a good chorus, who really gives a f---?", she explained, "Sometimes I know something's done because that image feels whole to me, but you really don't know if something is good until the people tell you — and they will tell you."
On Feb. 2, Gaga received a Grammy Award for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance with Bruno Mars for "Die with a Smile." The singer also hinted at new music, revealing that her upcoming album Mayhem is scheduled to drop on March 7. Describing the album, Gaga explained it reflects her journey of returning to the pop music that her early fans loved.
"The album started as me facing my fear of returning to the pop music my earliest fans loved," Gaga stated. Mayhem will offer a fresh take on her work, with the singer noting that it's about "chaos and transformation, celebrating music’s power to unite, provoke, and heal." Gaga emphasized that while the album may be different from her past projects, it still holds the spirit of "reassembling a shattered mirror," creating something "beautiful and whole in its own new way."
