Jennifer Jacoby Sues Palazzo Hotel After Husband Jeff Dies from Fentanyl Overdose.

Jennifer Jacoby, a grieving widow, has filed a lawsuit against the owners of the Palazzo Hotel after her husband, Jeff Jacobs, tragically died of a fentanyl overdose in his hotel room during a trip to Las Vegas in March 2023.

The lawsuit claims that the hotel’s staff and security failed to protect Jeff, who met sex worker Cheylee Kessee at the hotel bar and later died after she and her accomplice, Kashon Glass, allegedly robbed him.

A Tragic Encounter

Jeff Jacobs, 55, from Colorado, was attending a work conference in Las Vegas when he met Kessee, who was working with Glass, at the hotel bar around 1 a.m.

The pair spent 40 minutes together walking through the casino floor, and Jeff withdrew $1,000 before heading to his hotel room with Kessee. Just eight minutes later, Kessee was seen leaving the room.

Jennifer became concerned when she couldn't reach her husband, so she contacted the hotel to request a welfare check. Hotel staff later found Jeff unresponsive and slumped on the bathroom floor.

He had died from a fentanyl overdose, and it was revealed that he had been robbed.

The Lawsuit Against Palazzo Hotel

The lawsuit, filed by Jennifer and her daughters, claims that the Palazzo’s owners, Venetian Casino Resort LLC, are partially responsible for Jeff’s death.

The Jacobs family argues that the hotel’s security staff should have intervened when Jeff was seen being followed by Glass while interacting with Kessee.

The suit alleges that Kessee and Glass had a history of targeting hotel guests for robbery, a danger the hotel was allegedly aware of.

Legal Expert Weighs In

University of Nevada Las Vegas law professor Ben Edwards suggested the lawsuit could have merit. He explained, “Anytime you invite somebody onto your property, you have an obligation to make sure the place is safe.”

Edwards added that casinos must protect guests from dangers they are aware of, and the court will determine if the hotel failed to meet its safety responsibilities.

Legal Actions Against Kessee and Glass

Kessee and Glass were initially charged with murder but later pleaded guilty to voluntary manslaughter and robbery.

Kessee received a 20-year sentence with the possibility of parole, while Glass was sentenced to 50 years, with parole eligibility after 20 years.
