Affleck acknowledged that, while he has typically been reserved and private, he wanted to shed light on the truth behind their relationship.
“I thought it was an interesting examination,” he said, explaining that participating in the documentary would allow him to share his perspective on their union and the challenges they faced.
Affleck also took a moment to praise Lopez for her ability to handle celebrity and the public eye more adroitly than he has.
He contrasted their personalities, noting that while Lopez is more open and public, his own temperament tends to be more private.

When asked about the cause of their divorce, Affleck emphasized that there was no scandal or hidden drama behind the separation.
He explained that, despite the media's tendency to look for a root cause, the truth of their breakup is much simpler.
“There’s no scandal, no soap opera, no intrigue,” he said. “It’s just a story about people trying to figure out their lives and relationships.” Affleck further clarified that their issues were not due to any single event, reinforcing the idea that relationships are complex and evolve over time.
Affleck also addressed the role of the documentary in their story.
While some might expect it to reveal the reasons behind their split, Affleck made it clear that the film wouldn’t offer a definitive explanation for their relationship’s challenges.

“You don’t marry a ship captain and then say, ‘Well, I don’t like going out in the water," Affleck said, using the metaphor to suggest that people should be prepared for the challenges of being in a public relationship.
He added that the documentary would not expose any new, shocking details, but instead serve as a deeper exploration of their lives together.
While Affleck offered his take on their divorce, Lopez also shared her feelings in an interview with Interview magazine. She explained that she doesn’t regret their relationship, despite the pain of their breakup.
“Not one second,” she said when asked about regrets. However, she acknowledged that their love story almost “took her out for good.”
