What’s happening in the world of M&As and IPOs? An exciting deal this month took place in the US, where GSK - a science-led global healthcare company - successfully completed the acquisition of TESARO, Inc. an oncology-focused company based in Waltham, Massachusetts, for an aggregate cash consideration of approximately $5.1 billion (£4.0 billion). The transaction, which was announced on 3 December 2018, will strengthen GSK’s pharmaceutical business, accelerating the build of GSK’s pipeline and commercial capability in oncology. Another big deal involved Fiserv - a global organisation known for its financial services technology and services innovation - has agreed to acquire third-party transaction processor First Data Corporation in an all-stock transaction worth USD 22,000 million. Closing is expected in the second half of 2019 after the deal was announced on 15 January.
