Andrew is a leading lawyer specialising in debt restructuring and special situations, including ancillary distressed M&A/investment. Andrew has almost a decade of experience in the Asia restructuring market and joins Linklaters from DLA Piper in Singapore, where he was a partner in their restructuring and special situations practice. Prior to joining DLA in 2016, Andrew was Legal Counsel at Clearwater Capital, the active credit and debt fund, where he gained extensive experience in managing credit and equity investments and disposals, downside planning for distressed investments and structuring of investments and fund platforms. Linklaters Asia Managing Partner, Nathalie Hobbs, commented: “We are extremely excited to have Andy join our Asia R&I practice, demonstrating Linklaters’ continued investment in its market-leading global R&I offering. Having Andy on the ground in Singapore and working closely with our existing R&I partners David Kidd and James Warboys in Hong Kong will enable us to deliver a market differentiating seamless pan-Asia offering. Andy’s time at Clearwater gives him a unique perspective and his experience in dealing with funds and bondholders is highly complementary to our existing practice.” Although Andrew, who is qualified in both UK and Hong Kong law, will be based in the firm’s Singapore office, he will be fully integrated with the team in Hong Kong working throughout the region. Linklaters Strengthens Regional Restructuring and Insolvency Offering with Hire of Andy Payne DLA Piper announced the appointment of Bob Maynard and Caroline Pope as partners in its Litigation and Regulatory practice in London. The hire of these two high profile Tier 1 (L500, Chambers) partners marks the next step in DLA Piper’s continuing investment in the construction, engineering and infrastructure disputes practice. Bob has extensive experience in litigation, arbitration, adjudication, mediation, project advisory and forensic investigation work for domestic and international clients from all sides of the engineering and construction industry. Caroline also has significant experience, having worked in both the UK and the Middle East with her practice focused on litigation, arbitration, adjudication and ADR processes, particularly mediation and expert determination. Her experience ranges from high profile disputes on iconic construction projects including major multiparty commercial property, PFI, retail, shopping centres, large office developments, utilities, energy, oil and gas and nuclear. Caroline is also the chair of the Technology & Construction Solicitors Association (TeCSA). These hires bring the international team to a total of 40 partners specialising in construction, engineering and infrastructure disputes. In January 2019 DLA Piper hired Anna Mills from Hogan Lovells into its London team, whilst in 2017 Edward Shaw was promoted internally (London) and Alison Fagan and a team from Addleshaw Goddard joined the UK construction disputes practice – split across Manchester and London. The addition of Bob and Caroline is, therefore, a continuation of the expansion of the disputes practice in this sector. Commenting on the appointment, UK Head of Construction, Engineering & Infrastructure Disputes, Paul Giles, said: “Our UK team already works on some of the largest and most complex construction, engineering and infrastructure disputes in the UK and internationally. However, the addition of Caroline and Bob will help take our practice to the next level. Caroline and Bob bring their exceptional experience in the engineering and construction industry, gravitas and true quality to the existing DLA Piper team. These appointments are a clear illustration of the investment and commitment that the firm continues to make in the sector.” DLA Piper Makes Heavy Weight Hires to Boost Its Litigation & Regulatory Group
