Legal Lifestyle The Grand 77 FEB 2020 | WWW.LAWYER-MONTHLY.COM Your bags will somehow arrive at your room before you, so you need not stress about where they are so you can begin relaxing the second your feet hit the bed. Simple, yet stylish, each roommixes cosy comfort with exquisite elegance. If you don’t fancy heading down to the spa for a Grand treatment, you can still opt for grandeur and surround yourself with the bathroom’s marble decor and choose to soak in the bath with Molton Brown. And where Egyptian cotton bed linen will do wonders for your sleep, so will the Grand’s whiskey and wine whilst you fine dine or lounge in the wing chairs in the 1906 Bar. It is tempting to never leave The Grand. They say the farther north you get, the friendlier the people get, and that really rings true at this hotel. The team opens their doors to you and treat you like their own from the onset and throughout. You almost feel like family and it’s hard to say goodbye. But, if you must, I would advise you to get lost in the streets of York. Perhaps take a trip down to the famous Diagon Alley and find your inner wizard or, admire York Minster whilst tampering with the idea of visiting the famous Bettys for a warming cuppa. Whatever it is you chose to do, you can ask the staff at The Grand and they will ensure you visit the right places. And where saying goodbye and heading back to reality is tough, The Grand do make it simple; the hotel is not so far from the train station, or, if you aren’t ready to get back to reality just yet, the helpful concierge will gladly collect your car from the valet parking for you. Want to learn something new? Nip down to the cooking school, even if you can whip up a pretty impressive omelette. You will be surprised at what you don’t know and how much you will know after a few hours with the hotel’s amicable chef, Andrew Dixon. You’ll get your own workstation and apron, hand on advice from the professionals, and enough wine to keep you fuelled for the culinary adventure you will be going on. Dabble in something exotic with tantalising Asian recipes, or opt for a comforting British classic; whichever class you opt for, you will want to save all your dishes for later, just so you can show those at home what you really are capable of in the kitchen. Perfect for corporate events, a unique bonding activity amongst colleagues, or a gift for a partner that needs a quiet hint about their current cooking skills. The Grand boasts 207 individually designed bedrooms, a beautiful spa to relax, two destination restaurants, cocktail bar and events spaces. www.thegrandyork.co.uk
